Raquel Alves began her vocal studies in 2012 at the National Conservatory of Lisbon under the guidance of Prof. Filomena Amaro and since 2016 is studying at the Hochschule für Musik “Hanns Eisler” Berlin, currently in Prof. Renate Faltin's class.

 

She has won several prizes, including the 2nd prize in the Jovem.Com competition with BelTrio (2014) and the Gold III and Gold I prizes at the Summer Choral Festival with the Choir Musaico (2014 and 2015).

She is a scholarship holder of the Rotary Club Caminha (2012), Fundação GDA (2016), Ottilie-Selbach-Redslob-Stiftung (2018), Deutschlandstipendium (2018-2021) and Verein Yehudi Menuhin Live Music Now Berlin e.V. (2019-2021).

 

Raquel Alves took part in masterclasses given by extraordinary musicians such as Prof. Christine Schäfer, Prof. Christoph Prégardien, Prof. Ulrich Eisenlohr, Prof. Isabel Alcobia, João Paulo Santos and David Santos, as well as workshops like “Performance Enhancement by Design” by Janet Williams.

 

In June 2019 she took part of the Berlin Opera Academy's Emerging Artist Studio, guided (amoung others) by David Wakeham, Lorraine DiSimone, Stefania Dovhan, Dominic Barberi, Nabuko Amemiya and Nathaniel LaNasa.

 

She has also worked with international personalities such as Prof. Wolfram Rieger, Alexander Fleischer, Byron Knutson, Justin Doyle, Ana Paula Russo, Eurico Carrapatoso, Anna Tomasik, Néstor Enrique Andrenacci, André van der Merwe and Miguel del Castillo.

 

The young soprano has performed in various recitals around Portugal and Germany, most notably "Exzellenz-Konzert" with the pianist Elenora Pertz under the patronage of Daniel Barenboim (Berlin, 2019), "Warten auf Clara: Mutter von acht Kindern" (Berlin, 2019-2020 and Leipzig, 2020) and "Für Beethoven: Violine und Gesang im Recital" with the violinist David Marquard (Michelstadt, 2020).

 

Currently she presents herself as a Lied-Duo with the pianist Elenora Pertz and interprets A.Schönberg's "Pierrot Lunaire". She can be heard live at the Deutschlandfunk Kultur radio station.
